February Cricket Green Update published

This month’s news includes:
- Clarion’s monstrous proposals for Majestic Way (see image above), were due to go to Merton Council Planning Committee first in the cancelled January meeting and then in February. But the February meeting has been cancelled leaving the decision on these plans in flux. We understand that “further discussions” are underway.
- We worked with Mitcham Society to write an open letter to Merton Council’s leader Ross Garrod asking him to support a rethink for the Majestic Way plans. Read our joint letter and Ross’s reply via links in our Cricket Green Update.
- Fair Green protections to be extended by the end of 2026.
- Temporary home for a Banking Hub in Mitcham Village at Mitcham Library.
- New contractor to manage Merton’s parks and open spaces, as Glendale replaces idverde.
- Loss of Merton Metropolitan Open Land at Imperial Fields features in a new report by CPRE London.
- Merton Council modernises its Design Review Panel.
- Front counter at Mitcham Police station closes for good.
- Mitcham Bowls Club launches crowdfunder.
- Street sign “trapped” by Thames Water.
- Mozart in Mitcham as the Merry Opera Company perform Cosi fan tutte on 14 March at Mitcham Parish Church – in English. See Cricket Green Update for information on how to get tickets.
