Saturday 18th June – the “3.8 million pound” free guided walk

We are celebrating Civic Day 2016 with a guided “3.8 million pound walk” around The Canons.

Starting from outside Mitcham’s historic cricket pavilion at 10am on Saturday 18th June the walk will explore the grounds of The Canons.

It includes two listed mansions, a 500 year old dovecote, historic carp pond and Mitcham’s famous athletic ground among other delights.

The walk will provide an opportunity to learn more about the £3.8m Lottery project currently being prepared and to share some of the new historic research which has been undertaken into the history of The Canons landscape and buildings.

The walk will last approximately 75 minutes and will be on flat ground.

Participants may wish to enjoy a lunch at Park Place afterwards.

Civic Day is part of a nationwide celebration by civic societies like ours and is organised by Civic Voice. It celebrates what makes us all proud about where we live.
